In Shanghai, a city in perpetual motion where ancient traditions dialogue with urban energy, Jacques Cavallier Belletrud captured the force of a contemporary expression—that of ephemeral calligraphy, a pavement art comprised of poems traced out in water. Born of a wood slowly reduced to soot through an artisanal process, Chinese ink inspired a woody fragrance of great intensity. Its depth is found in the warm, creamy sandalwood that structures the composition. By contrast, white incense brings a pure, mineral touch.
